The New Play Festival was founded in 2006 by Metropolitan Community College, and continues, now that the GPTC is its own nonprofit, as a vibrant community partnership between the two organizations. The Festival takes place each spring at the Swanson Conference Center on MCC’s historic Fort Omaha Campus.

Now in its 8th year, the Poetry & Music Project connects student poets and their words with composers to create original music and explore the connections between poetry and music.

This discussion is connected to an exhibition organized by Carlie Waganer Amplify’s Generator Space. The Failure Collective Collection of Failures challenges the success / failure binary by celebrating the mistakes, goofs, miscalculations, screw-ups, and let-downs  inherent in creative and research-based practices. We hope to dig deeper into these themes during the conversation.

The Nebraska Women in STEM conference provides professional development opportunities for women in STEM careers across Nebraska. Sequin/ce, a community co-created collaborative project, positions queer JOY as a mode of resistance. Organized by Joy Cotton, Aspen M. Laboy, and Artur Melika in response to legislation that destabilizes and disenfranchises Nebraska’s LGBTQIA2S+ communities, Sequin/ce organizers collected photographs that visually interpret notions of queer joy through an open submission process. They then assembled photographs into a large-scale collage that wraps the gallery space in a visual manifesto of collective power, enduring presence, and joyful resistance.
