2026 marks 100 years since the publication of Langston Hughes’ seminal poetry collection The Weary Blues—a cornerstone of the Harlem Renaissance. Dream Keepers pays tribute to Hughes’ contributions–as poet, novelist, playwright, essayist, activist–as well as his deep kinship with the people he wrote for and about. As columnist and editor, he also keenly understood the necessity of building sociality through emerging media forms, particularly the Black periodical.
