archival print. 17’’ x 11’’
My siblings and I grew up in a small house in North Omaha. We renovated the top floor into a portal only accessible through imagination and dream dissection every weekend.
when these babies gather on Sunday mornings
drafting and forging forts in the big room
convening their juvenile council on
“dreams, astral projections, and other transformational bodies
discussing theories of what happens during REM sleep
diagramming remnant and artifact
unearthed in spectral excavation
archaeologists of every land that knew a version of their names
know that this is what you chased in your dreams
Together, we were the council. Little Black hands creating worlds that contained all of the answers to our wildest questions. All of the maps to our most outlandish dreams. In this space, everything was possible because we said it was. We carry that with us today.
